Pilgrim’s Progress: Delayed

March 21, 2020

The widespread effects of the corona virus have delayed my pilgrimage to Rome on Via Francigena until 2021. If travel to Europe is back to normal by September, I will go to France to finish Via Podensia, Le Puy en Velay to St Jean Pied-de-Port, about 2 weeks. This will be my third year of walking in Europe.

  1. Stay well, my friend!

  2. Via Podiensis is the trail I walked in 2019. you know that already. You say you are going to walk 2 weeks… you will not walk the whole trail from Le Puy to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Unless you are running or taking a bus. I know how disappointing it is to change our plans. This morning I think we shall not be able to go to Portugal and Spain in September. I keep in shape and want to go back when it is going to be safer. It is a good incentive to keep walking ( we have a 3,4km route -my husband and I do it in the morning), I do fitness class from YouTube. I am not getting any younger but when we go back it will force us to take it easy and enjoy the Camino even more. Does that make sense to you, Robert?

  3. I walked Le Puy to Moissac Sept/Oct 2018, then Figeac to Moissac via GR 651 in Sept 2019. We aim to finish from Moissac to St Jean Pied de Port. I’m really hoping it is possible. The “Curve” shows Texas will be virus free about July 1, then it will take a while to get back to “normal.”
